CANTO XX - Diviners

As Dante leans over the bridge to the fourth bolgia, he witnesses a haunting sight: a group of disfigured souls known as the diviners. These souls desired to see into the future in life, but now they are condemned to forever look backward in Hell. The souls they encounter include the hero Amphiaraus and the mythological figure Tiresias, who was transformed into a woman as a result of displeasing the goddess Hera.
